Down by the River....

On a beautiful summer morning, we were able to be a part of Luca and Zora's life as they played and ran free around their yard....a bonus that they live so close to the St Croix River. They climbed and rolled and played with their dog while Melissa captured these priceless moments. These are the days we will look back on in a few weeks when the fall air arrives in Minnesota! Until then, we are going to enjoy every last second of summer!!

Brothers Just Hanging Out!

Check out these two brothers!! Davis, 6 months old, and Brennan, 2 1/2 years, came in a few weeks ago for Davis' 6 month session! What a riot they are together! They must keep mom and dad in stitches all day. We captured some great images of them together in their cloth diapers which their parents started using when Davis was born. So great! It has been fun being a part of this growing family's life and we are excited for them to complete Davis' image box at his 12 month session this winter.

J-DA Barrel Horse Show

Last weekend I had the opportunity to photograph the J-DA Barrel Horse Show. What an event! Check out the slide show below for highlights! The kids all had a great time and were impressive in each if the events - Barrel, Pole, and Key. The speed and accuracy is astounding. Danielle and Josh and the entire Ritter family puts on an excellent show. These Sisters Love to Twirl!

These dresses were made to twirl! (really, they were!) And these sisters definitely proved that!! Hazel and Iris have been coming to us for a long time and we were thrilled to do another photo session with them this summer! They showed off their twirly dresses til they were dizzy! Poor Iris made herself very dizzy! However, we were able to capture them and their own personalities so well while they were having fun! It is so fun to be five and three years old!!

Just had to share!

We have been having a lovely morning, and the girls are playing peacefully, beautifully together. Then it becomes quiet ... really really quiet. And the next thing I know my littlest is all smiles with her "makeup," which was so delicately appplied by her older sister. You can see the cuplrit sneaking in the background! Ha!Proud ... and if you look closely you can see that my oldest spelled her name on the right cheek. How thoughtful to sign her work of art!

Texas Stars!

Meet Paige & Jack....two Texas stars (although technically since Jack was born here, he could be considered Minnesotan!) who moved to the Twin Cities just over a year ago! We couldn't be happier that they chose us to capture their memories of their time in Minnesota. Paige, who is 2 1/2, loved running around the park with her hair blowing in the wind. Jack was a very cooperative, sweet 8 month old! Both of them are adorable together! It is hard to believe that they are adding another baby to their fast growing family this fall! We can't wait to have all of them come back! We hope they stay in Minnesota for a very long time!

Willie is one!!!

You may remember (and if not, you can go back and look at previous blog entries) Willie from February 2008 when we posted his 6 month images! Well, look at him now!! He turned one at the end of July and came in to us just as he started walking on his own! What an amazing, fleeting time to capture. By the time his mom came in for her viewing session a week later, he was already walking very steadily on his own. This has been quite the year for this family and we are so happy that we could create these images of Willie for them!

A Sunny July Morning....

We spent a beautiful sunny, summer morning with this family on location at their home. It was a wonderful yard perfect for letting the kids run and play and just have fun! Ideal for capturing them at their best...just being kids! These siblings had a ball as you can tell from this first image. They were all very sweet! We can't wait to see the collection of gallery wrapped portraits that they have ordered to display on a wall in their family room...it is going to be stunning!!

Blake....Class of 2021

Isn't this the cutest 5 year old ever?!? I guess I am a bit biased as this is my middle son, Blake (a.k.a. Bubba) who has turned 5 this spring and is beginning kindergarten in less than a month. He was very excited to have his own special photo session with Melissa without his brothers joining in...a rare occurence indeed! Blake is a busy 5 year old who likes to challenge us at every turn, however, he seems to listen to Melissa and cooperate for her like no one else! I'm not sure what kind of magic she has but it certainly works on Blake! We are thrilled with the Impressions piece she is creating to mark this special milestone of beginning kindergarten...something we did when our oldest turned 5 and something we plan to have Melissa create when our youngest is at that stage, too. Before we know it, we will be planning their senior sessions!!

Family Fun in the Sun!

Living in Minnesota, there are only a few months out of the year that we can do really great outdoor summer photo sessions and we take full advantage of every second!! We love these sessions and this family was no exception! Mac and Sam are two brothers who are close in age and best buddies! They had a ball running around the park we were at and just playing with each other. At this age, there wasn't a lot of sitting around and posing for the camera which made it all the more fun! Melissa captured such fun images with them and with their mom and dad! What a great family!

Giggles and Laughter!!!

We were so excited for this photo session! Ben and Henry, ages 5 and 3 years old, returned to us to have a photo session this summer. We have known these brothers for a long time and we love to see them everytime! Henry's 3 year old portrait will proudly be displayed beside Ben's 3 year old portrait from 2005. And Ben's handsome 5 year old portrait will have a special place in his bedroom. This is an exciting time at their house as Ben is beginning kindergarten which is such a milestone to capture! And these brothers will be welcoming a baby sister this fall as well! How sweet will that be?!? We can't wait to meet her!
It was so much fub to spend time with these brothers...and you can tell from the image below what fun they have together....wanna know what they were laughing about? Henry was hysterical from smelling his brother's stinky feet!!! Boys!!

Welcome Baby Phoenix!!!

There is nothing better than a sleeping baby! Baby Phoenix came to the studio at 8 days of age....he definitely slept for some of the session but he was definitely awake for part of it, too (he was super alert for 8 days old)! This was a precious session!! Big sister, Payton, who just celebrated her 5th birthday, joined in the session as well. You can tell how much she ADORES her baby brother...just look at the image of them together! We also captured Payton jumping and playing and having a blast!! The image of her with the tutu up in a huge ball made us laugh so hard (you should have heard us in the viewing appointment with mom and grandma! what a party!!) Congratulations to a wonderful family on this new addition to their lives!!
